WHAT TO BRING ON YOUR CRESTED BUTTE SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURE

When riding snowmobiles in the mountains of Crested Butte you will need to prepare for changing weather conditions. This can be more extreme during the winter months at the higher elevations of Crested Butte and Kebler Pass. It may be sunny and mild when you start out, but you could experience snow storms and sub-zero temperatures before the day is out. The Bureau of Land Management has put together a guide to snowmobiling which includes an extensive list of items to consider before you hit the snowmobile trails. In addition, here is our suggested list of what to bring for your Crested Butte snowmobile ride:

  • Sunglasses or Googles

    Sunglasses and goggles or some sort of eye protection. Goggles and maps are available for purchase at rental locations or you can pre-order when making a reservation.

  • Warm, Windproof, Waterproof Gear

    Warm, windproof and waterproof gear that is also breathable. Be prepared for wind and blowing snow.

  • Layers

    Wear layers, including items such as Capilene and fleece, and bring extra clothing. The Weather Channel provides some really great tips on how to dress and layer up for winter weather.

  • Sunscreen

    The UV rays are much more intense at higher elevations and the reflection from the snow makes the UV rays even stronger.

  • Water

    Have plenty of water with you and bring some extra food. Be prepared in case you get stuck out there or lose your way.

  • First Aid

    A first aid kit is essential as you may be far from any type of medical care if you were to have an accident.

  • Avalanche Gear

    Avalanche kits are recommended when riding avalanche terrain. When properly used, these kits can dramatically increase your chances of survival if you are caught in an avalanche. The basic components of an avalanche kit include a beacon, probe and shovel, and are usually carried in a backpack. Visit the Crested Butte Avalanche Center for updates on the most recent conditions and information related to avalanche dangers in our area.

  • Driver’s License

    We’ll need your driver’s license for our rentals.

  • Helmet

    Bring your helmet if you have one – otherwise, we provide them with all of our rentals.

CRESTED BUTTE SNOWMOBILE RENTAL AND CANCELLATION POLICY

Rental Deposit and Balance Due Policy

A 50% deposit is due at time of reservation and the balance will be due and charged on the 14th day prior to your snowmobile tour date.

For reservations made within 14 days of snowmobile tour date, payment in full is required.

GUIDED SNOWMOBILE TOURS DO NOT Require any additional damage deposit other than a Credit Card on file.

All drivers of UNGUIDED RENTALS MUST BEAT LEAST AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD WITH A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE.

UNGUIDED RENTALS DO REQUIRE a $500.00 Dollar Credit Card Authorization Per Snowmobile, which will be collected before the rental is picked up and will be returned at the end of the rental period when the snowmobile is returned without any damage.

CANCELATION POLICY

  • lf you must cancel your reservation and we are notified at least 7 days prior to your scheduled tour time, we will refund your payment in full. If you are a no-show or cancel for any reason less than 7 days prior to your scheduled tour time, we cannot refund any portion of the payment. All sales within 7 days are final and non-refundable.  Snowmobile Central Reservations cannot be held responsible for and will not issue refunds for personal inconveniences, health-related issues, family emergencies, injuries, winter road conditions, public transportation delays, traffic jams, or inclement weather.  When you make your reservation, we are reserving a space for you and now turning away other potential guests.
